Chris Johnson finally shows some life
Many had all but written off Chris Johnson's 2011 season as lost with the terrible first half the holdout running back had for the Tennessee Titans.
But while the Titans defense kept Cam Newton in check Sunday, CJ quietly had his best game of the season, going for 130 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. Other than one 25-yard run, which probably could have been longer had he been able to avoid a tackler the way he used to, Johnson's gains were mostly moderate, but good enough for his second 100-yard rushng day of the season.
Johnson said he is trying to shrug off his woeful first half and concentrate on making the second half of the season better.
“Me and Coach (Mike) Munchak said the next eight game, it's a new season,” Johnson said via TitanInsider.com. “We're in a new season right now and basically we're just trying to make this new season the best.”
Johnson even scored a touchdown late in the game with Tennessee in its four-minute offense, tacking on the final year after Matt Hasselbeck's 21-yard bootleg.
“Matt told me I was on his fantasy team, so he slid down at the 1 and let me get in the end zone. So you'll have to thank Matt, fantasy owners,” Johnson said.
