Christian Ponder takes some advice from Larry Fitzgerald
Christian Ponder shook off some rust this morning in a workout on the University of Minnesota campus that was put together by Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
According to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Fitzgerald had to tell Ponder to push off a house-hunting expedition with his realtor to complete the session in hot and muggy conditions. A handful of other Vikings were present, and Ponder has been pro-active this offseason as he works to be in position to compete for the starting job even though he is a rookie.
“I was definitely rusty,” Ponder said. “That's the first time I've thrown in a couple of weeks and also throwing with new guys. But I think today I wanted to come out and sling the crap out of the ball and that's never good as a quarterback. Obviously, it shows I was a little rusty. But toward the end it felt better. It's the first day. Tomorrow will be a lot better.
It’s a good sign that Ponder can take advice from a decorated Pro Bowl performer like Fitzgerald, who has also organized workouts in Arizona this offseason.
“I'm supposed to be meeting with my realtor right now, so he told me just to call him and tell him we'll do it later," Ponder said.
