Christopher Owens denies he trashed ex-girlfriend's place
Atlanta Falcons cornerback Christopher Owens has denied destroying a large amount of property in the apartment he rents for his former girlfriend and the couple’s son to live in.
A report earlier in the week was that Owens went wild in the place – putting holes in a flat screen television, damaging walls and pouring bleach on a large pile of property belonging to Latia Terry, the mother of his 9-month-old child.
“He’s been a good Dad,” Randall M. Kessler, Owens’ attorney, told D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He plans to keep being a good dad. He denies all of the claims.”
Owens’ camp claims the girlfriend has fabricated the situation as “revenge” because Owens no longer desires to be in a relationship with Terry.
Terry sought an order of protection against Owens but per Ledbetter’s report she has been contacting him since. Owens also says that Terry has been slandering him on the Internet and contacting his friends. Police have reportedly told her to cease and desist or face the possibility of stalking charges.
A family violence hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
