Clayborn: Instinct is to keep going
Tampa Bay Bucs defensive end Adrian Clayborn said that when you get an offensive lineman back on his heels that instincts can take over.
That was fine and a part of football. Except that today Clayborn got tangled up while rushing against New England Patriots tackle Nate Solder in a joint practice with the New England Patriots. The result was that Solder fell back into Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady, who left with what was diagnosed as mild knee sprain.
“You always have to stay away from the quarterback,” Clayborn told the Patriots website, “but if you get a guy on his heels, my instinct is to keep going. And that’s what I did.”
In describing the play, Clayborn said it was a bull rush against Solder.
“I bull rushed the tackle and apparently he tripped on Brady and fell on him,” Clayborn recalled.
