Colin Kaepernick had minor surgery on left leg
Colin Kaepernick, the second-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers, had minor surgery on a pre-existing condition in his lower left leg after the draft.
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee first reported the news. There aren’t a lot of details on the issue but no one seems particularly concerned.
“It’s nothing serious at all,” the Nevada product told Barrows.
“The 49ers are aware that Colin Kaepernick underwent a procedure to address a pre-existing injury and were fully aware of the injury at the time of the draft,” the team said in a release. “The 49ers have no concerns regarding his health and are confident that he will be ready for the 2011 NFL season.”
The injury bothered Kaepernick during the second half of the college season. With the Senior Bowl and draft preparation, his first chance to have it corrected was after the draft. The lockout is giving him ample time to recover right now.
“I don't feel like it's going to slow me down at all. I'll be ready for the season, ready for training camp. I'll be ready."
