Colts fire defensive coordinator Coyle
Someone had to be the fall guy for the Indianapolis Colts' 0-11 record, and on Tuesday, the someone became defensive coordinator Larry Coyle, who was fired.
Long-time linebackers coach Mike Murphy will take over calling the defense for Indianapolis.
“The move was made to improve communication and production,” Coach Jim Caldwell said in a statement addressing the move. “We feel this is the most effective and realistic way to move forward and win games this season. We appreciate all of the effort and hard work Larry Coyer put forth in his three years with the Colts.”
Murphy has 27 years of NFL coaching experience, including the past 14 seasons with the Colts.
