Colts may be tempted to start Painter

Curtis Painter wasn't a miracle worker, but he did drive the Indianapolis Colts to their only offensive touchdown of Sunday night's 23-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That, according to the Associated Press, has Colts coach Jim Caldwell at least considering the possibility of Painter starting over Kerry Collins, even if Collins is sufficiently recovered from a concussion suffered Sunday night.

Collins, who came out of retirement in late August and was thrust into the lineup due to Peyton Manning's neck injury, has struggled to find a rhythm, and that, along with plenty of other miscues, now has the Colts at 0-3, heading into a Monday night game at Tampa Bay.

Collins was 13 of 29 for 93 yards before being knocked out of the game. Painter came on to go 5 of 11 for 60 yards, but also had a fumble that Troy Polamalu returned for a touchdown.
