Colts restructure Trent Cole deal

The Indianapolis Colts restructured linebacker Trent Cole's deal. His base salary was lowered from $4.25 million to $2 million. He gets a $1 million guaranteed roster bonus. After cutting outside linebacker Jonathan Newsome following a possession of marijuana arrest, the Colts need pass rush help. Robert Mathis led the team with seven sacks, but is 35 years old. Cole had just three sacks. He can make his money back if he regains his old production, including: $250,000 by playing 50 percent of the snaps, $500,000 by playing 60 percent of the snaps, $500,000 by recording nine sacks, $750,000 by recording 11 sacks, $1 million by recording at least 13 sacks and $78,125 every game that he's on the active roster.
