Colts working to retain Mathis

The Indianapolis Colts may be set to jettison Peyton Manning soon, but Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star reports via Twitter that defensive end Robert Mathis appears to be a priority to retain of sorts.

Kravitz reports that the Colts are in negotiations with Mathis' camp and that the talks have heated up in an effort to retain him.

Indianapolis has until Monday to decide if they want to franchise Mathis and keep negotiating just in case a long-term deal isn't completed by then.
