Cooper to IR; Chargers career over
Linebacker Stephen Cooper, who re-signed a one-year deal with the San Diego Chargers was placed on injured reserve Monday, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Cooper suffered a torn biceps, which was going to sideline him for two to three months. With the Chargers placing the veteran linebacker on IR, it probably spells the end of his career in San Diego. He first joined the Chargers in 2003 and has spent his entire nine-year career with the club.
Cooper re-signed in San Diego this season for the veteran minimum after speculation was that he might leave the club, perhaps to join former Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, who is now head coach of the Carolina Panthers.
