Court date set for Terrell Owens' child support case
A court hearing is set for July 26 after the mother of Terrell Owens’ child accused the free agent wide receiver of failing to pay child support.
The Associated Press reports Melanie Paige Smith’s request will be heard in Fulton County (Ga.) Superior Court. She has asked Owens to be held in contempt of court. Smith contends Owens is not meeting his obligation of paying $5,000 per month.
Owens had a productive 2010 season with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he’s recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL and his availability for the 2011 season is very much in doubt at this point. That could make it difficult for Owens to start earning a pay check when the NFL’s lockout finally ends.
