Cowboys adding Justin Durant, Will Allen to mix
More than two weeks into free agency the Dallas Cowboys are starting to make some moves.
The Cowboys will sign linebacker Justin Durant and safety Will Allen. The catch is the players will have to wait until the team has created enough cap space to execute the deals. According to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas, the team just restructured the contract of No. 2 quarterback Kyle Orton to create a savings of $383,000 vs. the salary cap, just enough room to add Durant on a two-year contract.
Dallas will have to wait for another restructure or cut a player to carve out some room Allen. Both players visited the Cowboys on Monday and both could figure as starters. Durant is a good fit for the strong side after spending last season with the Detroit Lions. The Cowboys are transitioning to a 4-3 scheme and have a pair of young linebackers they are excited about in Sean Lee and Bruce Carter.
