Cowboys chop Flozell Adams too

Ken Hamlin was not the only player in Dallas to be shown the door at Valley Ranch today.

Veteran offensive tackle Flozell Adams has also been informed that he will be released by the Cowboys, according to a report by Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas. It brings to a close a decorated 13-year run for Adams, who was a second-round pick in 1998 and missed only 14 games in his career.

The move would seem to clear the path for Doug Free, a former fourth-round pick from Northern Illinois who filled in at both left and right tackle last season. The move saves the Cowboys from having to fork over a $2.5 million roster bonus to Adams that was due in June. His base salary this season was going to be $5 million.

Adams reportedly plans to continue his career.
