The Dallas Cowboys cut defensive end Michael Sam from the practice squad.

Sam was on the practice squad for seven weeks.

Sam is a former St. Louis Rams seventh-round draft pick.

He's the first openly gay player in the NFL.

The Cowboys are signing linebacker Troy Davis to the practice squad.
