Cowboys lose another starter to injury
The hits keep coming for the Dallas Cowboys.
This time, safety Gerald Sensabaugh is sidelined with a shoulder injury and he is expected to be done for the preseason with the start of the regular season in question.
According to Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News, he is the team’s fourth starter to hit the shelf during training camp, injured in the first quarter of Saturday night’s preseason game at San Diego. X-rays didn’t turn anything up and he is scheduled to have an MRI to determine what is wrong after he hurt himself trying to tackle rookie running back Ryan Mathews.
The Cowboys have already lost two offensive linemen to injuries. Right tackle Marc Colombo and left guard Kyle Kosier have knee issues. Defensive end Marcus Spears (knee) is also out.
If there is a silver lining in Sensabaugh’s situation, undrafted rookie free agent Barry Church has played well. The extended playing time could prepare him and it looks like the Toledo product has a real shot of making the 53-man roster.
