Cowboys place Edgar Jones on injured reserve-designated to return

The Dallas Cowboys placed backup defensive end Edgar Jones on injured reserve-designated to return, meaning he has to miss at least the next eight games.

Jones has an abdominal-groin injury. He has five tackles in four games since being acquired in a trade from the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Cowboys replaced Jones on the active roster by promoting defensive lineman Jason Vega from the practice squad.
