Cowboys, Redskins issue joint statement over cap issue

In what amounts to a concession speech of sorts, the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins have released a joint statement after it was announced earlier the teams had failed in their bid to appeal salary-cap penalties.

“We pursued our salary cap claim pursuant to the CBA and we respect and will abide by the arbitrator's decision to dismiss,” the clubs said in a statement released by both franchises. “We will continue to focus on our football teams and the 2012 season.”

So, the issue is done for the Cowboys and the Redskins. Dallas is penalized $10 million against the salary cap in 2012 and 2012 and the Redskins will divide $26 million in penalties over the two seasons.
