Cowboys restructure contract of DeMarcus Ware
The Dallas Cowboys have finished massaging the numbers when it comes to DeMarcus Ware’s contract.
The team has restructured his deal in order to provide some relief under the salary cap. It’s not a pay cut, they just moved some of the money around in a bookkeeping deal to ensure the organization can be under the salary cap by the 3 p.m. deadline.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Ware’s salary cap number for 2011 was $11.3 million. The most the team could reduce it was to $5.9 million. Exactly how the deal was done is not known.
“The process is already finished," Ware explained. "I don't want to get into any numbers or anything like that. It's done. I did whatever I needed to do to help the team."
Other Cowboys stars are believed to have reworked deals or be in the process of it.
