Crennel confirms Orton as starter
Chiefs interim coach Romeo Crennel will start veteran Kyle Orton at quarterback for Crennel's first game at the helm with Kansas City.
"The quarterback Kyle [Orton] did a nice job, it looks like he’s throwing better so we’re going to start him in the game and he’s going to be the quarterback," Crennel said via the team website.
Crennel had said Orton, who dislocated his finger in his first game with the Chiefs against Chicago, would start if the finger was healthy enough to allow it. Otherwise, Crennel was ready to hand the reins to rookie Ricky Stanzi, who will be the No. 2 QB when the Chiefs face the unbeaten Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Tyler Palko, who has started the past four games, will be the third quarterback.
