Dan Snyder says there are myths about old Dan Snyder

The old Dan Snyder probably would not have let his quarterback situation come down to Rex Grossman and John Beck during preseason.

That’s proof right there, according to the Washington Redskins owner, that he takes a hands-off approach to football matters these days. Tip of the cap to Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post for tracking down a series of interviews Snyder gave in promotion of a solar energy project at FedEx Field.

Per the report, Snyder was asked by Comcast SportsNet about being “hands on” in the past and if he would have stood for the quarterback situation as it was entering the season.

You know, there’s a lot of myths about the old Dan Snyder,” Snyder said. “And I think I’ll leave it at that, and they are myths. You trust someone, whether it’s Joe Gibbs or whether it’s Mike Shanahan, to do their job. You let ‘em do their job, and then hopefully you have success. And I think what you’re seeing now with both Bruce (Allen) and Mike is that we’re just in good hands, and the future’s real bright for the Redskins. And people need to be patient. I’m very patient, and I understand what they’re trying to do. You can start to feel what they’re doing, and it’s exciting for everyone.”

Redskins fans have been waiting since 1991 for the team to return to the Super Bowl. They might argue with Snyder that they’ve been plenty patient while some of his big-price acquisitions like Albert Haynesworth have been disasters.
