Dannell Ellerbe out for season with hip injury, Kelvin Sheppard signed

Miami Dolphins starting linebacker Dannell Ellerbe has been placed on injured reserve with a hip injury.

Ellerbe is undergoing surgery.

The Dolphins are signing former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Kelvin Sheppard as his replacement on the roster.

Sheppard is a former third-round pick bu the Buffalo Bills in 2011. He was traded to the Bills in 2012 for Jerry Hughes.

Sheppard started seven games for the Colts last season, as well as two playoff games, but was cut in late August.
