Darnell Dockett critical of Albert Haynesworth
Albert Haynesworth’s teammates have yet to attach their names to critical comments about the no-show defensive tackle for the Washington Redskins.
But that hasn’t stopped a player from another organization from firing on Haynesworth, who has elected to skip the Redskins’ mandatory two-day minicamp which begins today.
Leave it to Twitter machine Darnell Dockett of the Arizona Cardinals to aim and fire on Haynesworth. Interestingly, Dockett has been angling for a new contract with the Cardinals since about the time the ink dried on his last deal. He’s had his beefs with the club, but for the most part Dockett has shown up and gone to work. So, in between weighing in on the NBA Finals, Dokcett chimed in on Haynesworth.
“Did I just hear this correctly? Albert Haynesworth will not be (at) mandatory minicamp? And he wants a trade? After signing 100 millon dollar contract?” Dockett tweeted.
“That’s why I tell y’all I’m nothing like these dudes. For 100 million my ass will play 4-3, 3-4, 5-9, 4-8 and still whip ass!” Dockett followed up with.
Our guess is that the majority of the rest of the league will hold a similar opinion, that when you have been paid what Haynesworth received, you should happily be the holder if that is what the team asks you to do. The fact of the matter is that Haynesworth’s public standoff gives high-paid athletes a black eye. How can any team out there feel like it will get a player willing to buy into their system if it trades for Haynesworth?
Stay tuned for more fallout.
