D.C. officials would like to bring Redskins home

The mayor of Washington D.C. along with two city council members toured the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice facility with the goal in mind of luring the Redskins back to the nation’s capitol.

Vincent C. Gray and two council members traveled to Tampa over the weekend, according to the Washington Times, in order to get a feel for what D.C. might need to help build in order to lure the Redskins back to the city. The Redskins have been seeking possible new locations for their practice facility, which is in Ashburn, Va. The team will continue to play at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.

The team could potentially move its headquarters to land near its former home – RFK Stadium, along the Anacostia River. However, according to the report, Prince George’s County, Md., has a right of first refusal if the Redskins decide to uproot from Ashburn and move.

The Redskins are in the process of building a temporary bubble to practice in when weather turns inclement at their Ashburn site.
