Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray has been the best at his position to start this season.

Obviously, the franchise realizes this and has decided to reward him for his efforts. According to NFL.com, the Cowboys have offered Murray a new four-year contract.

Murray is in a contract year and couldn't be playing any better. He's earning a base salary of $1.406 million this season. He's already run for 534 yards and five touchdowns through four games, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He's on pace to run for over 2,100 yards at this time.

Murray's been aided by an offensive line that has mauled opponents thus far. It's helped the Cowboys win time of possession battles and keep a less-than-average defense fresh. The trick for Murray will be to stay healthy as he's dealt with injury issues in the past.

But if everything stays the course, Murray could be in for a special season. And it looks like he'll be handsomely rewarded as a result.
