DeSean Jackson gives props to Larry Fitzgerald on contract
DeSean Jackson gave big props to Larry Fitzgerald for the $120 million, eight-year contract the wide receiver pulled down from the Arizona Cardinals, one that raises the bar significantly for players at the position.
“Congrats to my Big bro LarryFitzgerald!! Well deserved . . . Wideouts ballin!!" Jackson wrote on his Twitter account, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.
The National Football Post’s Andrew Brandt goes inside the numbers to examine the Fitzgerald deal closely. It’s not packed with fluff like a lot of the inflated deals you’ll see from time to time.
Jackson, of course, is angling for his own new contract and staged a holdout at the start of training camp. While they’re different players and Jackson surely cannot be angling for the same money paid to Fitzgerald, when the bar is raised it helps everyone out.
Jackson pledged he would keep quiet about his contract situation when he reported to training camp. Thus far, he has been a man of his word.
