DeSean Jackson: 'I was definitely hurt'

Newly-minted Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson acknowledged that he was disappointed about his departure from the Philadelphia Eagles.

"I was definitely hurt," Jackson told ESPN.

Jackson addressed his conversation with Eagles coach Chip Kelly when he was informed that he was being released. He's since been signed to a three-year, $24 million contract with the Redskins.

"The conversation I had with Chip Kelly was a deep, personal conversation," Jackson said. "It was basically like, 'we're moving forward. I think it's best for the team, I think it's best for yourself.' I was sittin' there waiting for the reason why, but that's basically all I can (recall) from the conversation, was 'we're moving forward. I think it's best for us and I think it's best for you ... we're going to go let you negotiate with 31 other teams.' That's kind of where we left it. I got off the phone -- I was like, 'are you sure? That's it?' We hung up. That was it."

Jackson refuted a report from that alleged he has gang ties.

"How do I feel about From my point of view, it was very disrespectful," Jackson said. "I don't think it was right -- straight up."

Jackson was asked if he hangs out with gang members, replying: "Not if they're doing negative things. Do I know people who are involved? Yes. I'm definitely aware of and know certain gang members."

"But as far as being affiliated, never have been in one. I've always felt I've been a product of my environment, but I've always felt I've wanted to do things the right way."

When asked if he thinks the Eagles planted the story, Jackson said: "I hope not."
