Devin Hester 'disappointed' by Pro Bowl snub
The NFL’s all-time leading return man when it comes to touchdowns is bummed he’s not heading to the Pro Bowl.
But Devin Hester said he understands why Patrick Peterson, the rookie from the Arizona Cardinals, got the nod. Peterson had four punt return touchdowns this season while Hester had two – and one kickoff return for a touchdown.
Hester had a better average – 17.3 yards per punt return compared to 15.9 for Peterson, who does not handle kickoff return chores.
“Heck yeah I'm disappointed,'' Hester told Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune. "I'm not going to lie. I was a little upset. But he did a job this year.'
"If anybody was going to beat me, I knew it was going to be (Peterson).”
Hester is the No. 1 alternate but he’s not leaving a bag packed for Hawaii, where he’s been three times as a Pro Bowler.
“Anybody who's a rookie and in the Pro Bowl is going to go,” Hester said.
