Dez Bryant claims ignorance to tradition of carrying pads
In the grand scheme of things, it’s just a warning sign that Dez Bryant is going to be a bonda fide diva in the NFL well before he reaches his second contract.
Because it really doesn’t matter who carries Roy Williams’ shoulder pads off the practice fields in training camp for the Dallas Cowboys. But get this: Bryant says he had no idea that it was an NFL tradition for rookies to haul pads after practice. Yep. He claimed ignorance.
Bryant was joking about it today, according to an Associated Press report, and indicated he didn’t have any issue with other rookie rituals like paying for group meals. We’ll see how that shakes out and there’s no doubt Williams will be able to dispense some advice when it comes time to leave a tip. Right?
But Bryant appears to be a fast learner. Heck, he found someone to carry his pads off the field today. According to Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas, Jerry Jones’ grandson helped him out.
