Dez Bryant having foot and ankle surgery today

Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant is having foot and ankle surgery today in New York. He broke his foot in the first game of the season. He also has bone spurs in his ankle that need to be removed. “Nothing about what we might do with his ankle or additional help in his bone graft doing better, that that’s going to limit him on getting back in time for that – maybe a little early weight work," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "That type of thing." Bryant had a Jones fracture, breaking the fifth metarsal of his right foot. He missed five games. He later injured his knee and ankle. Signed to a five-year, $70 million extension in July, Bryant finished the year with 31 catches for 401 yards with three touchdowns in nine games. “We’re talking about something here that we don’t know,” Jones said. “But no one has given me any indication at any level of our medical stuff or just in general from outside our medical staff, that he’s got an issue that would limit him going into our normal training regime – going into training camp, going into the season next year.” Follow me on Twitter: @AaronWilson_NFL Aaron Wilson covers the Texans for The Houston Chronicle.
