Did Holmes comments cause stir with Jets?
Did Santonio Holmes' post-game comments following the New York Jets' 34-17 loss to Baltimore Sunday cause the need for the remarks to be addressed behind closed doors or not?
It apparently depends on which player you ask, according to the New York Post.
After the loss, receiver Santonio Holmes laid some of the offense's woes at the feet of the offensive line for not protecting quarterback Mark Sanchez and placed some of the blame on Sanchez, who lost two fumbles and had an interception returned for a score.
“I think our player policy is to just kind of keep things in house,” Sanchez said. “That kind of stuff won’t happen.
“Moving forward, that won’t happen. We’ve talked about it. Those individual improvements and stuff that happens on a personal level. . . . That kind of stuff doesn’t go past this locker room.”
But Holmes gave a different take on whether his comments were addressed.
“If coach put a ‘C’ on my chest, everybody should listen to what I have to say whether it’s good or bad and let’s build from it,” Holmes said. “Let’s not take it out and say, ‘OK, we’re going to trash this person for saying something bad about the team in the media.’ ”
