D-Jax says others haven't been benched for missing meeting

DeSean Jackson told Michael Irvin he’s been late for a meeting before during his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and he didn’t miss a game.

He’s seen it happen to other players, too, and they have not been benched for a game. In an interview that will air on NFL Network before the New York Jets-Denver Broncos game Thursday night, Jackson admitted being late to the special teams meeting because he allegedly overslept is “unacceptable.”

Honestly, I’ve never seen Coach (Andy) Reid do anything like that,” Jackson told Irvin. “I’ve never seen him bench anyone for missing a meeting.”

But Jackson was benched and the Eagles lost in stunning fashion at Lincoln Financial Field to the Arizona Cardinals, dropping their record to 3-6. It’s put the club and Reid in a tenuous position. It hasn’t helped Jackson, who is mired in a sub-par season as he shoots for a new contract.
