Dolphins coach Joe Philbin got one-year contract extension

Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin got a one-year contract extension through the 2016 season. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross made the announcement today to reporters at the NFL owners meetings. Philbin is 23-25 in three seasons. He has yet to have a winning season and was the coach when there was a major bullying scandal in 2014 involving Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin. Ross said he wouldn't want Philbin to be a lame duck. Philbin went 8-8 last year for the second year in a row. "You don't get the best from someone when they're operating with a gun to their head," Ross said. Follow me on Twiter: @RavensInsider Aaron Wilson covers the Ravens for The Baltimore Sun
