Dolphins place transition tag on Olivier Vernon

The Miami Dolphins have placed the transition tag on defensive end Olivier Vernon, at a cost of $12.734 million. The Dolphins have the right to match any offers. Other teams have the right to negotiate with Vernon. Last year, the Dolphins lost their transition player when tight end Charles Clay signed with the Buffalo Bills. Vernon has 187 career tackles, 29 sacks, 74 quarterback hits and 43 tackles for losses. He led the team in sacks (7.5) and quarterback hits (36) in 2015.
