Dolphins promote John Benton to offensive line coach

The Miami Dolphins have promoted John Benton to offensive line coach to assistant line coach, hiring Jack Bicknell Jr. as assistant line coach.

Benton moves up after the Dolphins fired Jijm Turner.

Benton was previously with the Houston Texans.

The Dolphins allowed a franchise-record 58 sacks last season.

Bicknee spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers and was let go after the season.

“With the promotion of John Benton, along with the addition of Jack Bicknell Jr. we have two experienced football coaches who have an impressive history working with and developing quality offensive line units," Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said. “They are both excellent teachers and are highly respected within the coaching community. Both coaches will be great assets to the Miami Dolphins organization.”
