Dolphins suspend Derrick Shelby indefinitely for conduct detrimental to team

The Miami Dolphins have indefintely suspended defensive lineman Derrick Shelby for conduct detrimental to the team.

He was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest.

“We were disappointed to learn about Derrick’s arrest,” Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said in a statement. “Everyone in this organization is held to high standards of conduct and professionalism. Based on my conversations with Derrick and the information we have thus far, Derrick will be placed on Indefinite Club Suspension. When we have completed all of the necessary diligence, we will make a final determination on his discipline.”

Shelby allegedly touched females without their permission at a nightclub. When asked to leave, Shelby took a threatening stance, according to police. Police said they tased him three times. Shelby's lawyer said police went overboard and damaged his face.
