Donald Penn could miss minicamp next month
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will pick up activity next week with voluntary workouts and right now left tackle Donald Penn is not expected to be among those volunteering.
Penn is expected to sit out the rest of the acitivities this month and could also pass on the mandatory veteran minicamp next month, according to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune. That camp is mandatory only to players under contract, and Penn is the lone remaining unsigned restricted free agent for the team.
Penn, like most of the other RFAs, is angling for a longterm extension, the kind of deal the Bucs have been hesitant to hand out. He’s a solid building block for the future but this is a situation that could play out into July as the Bucs don’t look like they’re ready to give him the pay day he is seeking.
