Donald Penn: Raiders will be a run-first team

The ghosts of Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes have made their way to Oakland.

In an NFL that is passing the ball more than ever before, it appears the Raiders will take an old-school approach to offense this season. Raiders offensive tackle Donald Penn appeared on SiriusXM Radio and didn't hide what the offense plans to do each series.

"We're gonna run the ball, run the ball, then run it again, until the defense stops us," Penn said.

That sure sounds like the three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust days.

If — and it's a big if — Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden stay healthy, Oakland could have a very formidable rushing attack. But in the NFL, this is easier said than done.

But if neither Matt Schaub or Derek Carr can pose a threat in the passing game, teams will load up on the run and stop them. Then the Raiders might be out of luck after that.
