Donovan McNabb told police he drank cough syrup during DUI arrest

Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb told pilce he drank cough syrup during his driving under the influence arrest in Arizona. It was the second DUI for the former Philadelphia Eagles star in the past 18 months. McNabb rear-ended another vehicle. "While Donovan spoke, I noticed a strong, fruity odor on his breath. I noticed Donovan's eyes were watery and very bloodshot and his speech was slurred,'' a Gilbert officer wrote in his report. McNabb claimed he drank cough syrup and said he'd had nothing to drink. "Donovan opened his mouth to reveal the cough drops,'' the report said. The officer noticed six signs of impairment. McNabb consented to a blood alcohol test. He was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence. McNabb has been suspended indefinitely by FOX Sports.
