Dowling clears waivers, Patriots try out six players

Oft-injured former New England Patriots second-round cornerback Ras-I Dowling went unclaimed off waivers.

He had a partially guaranteed contract with $351,377 of his $732,190 base salary fully guaranteed for skill, injury and cap.

Meanwhile, the Patriots worked out quarterbacks Clay Belton and Nathan Stanley, offensive guards Desmond Wynn and Chandler Burden, wide receiver Jerrell Jackson and running back Robbie Rouse.

None were immediately signed to a contract.
