Drew Hill passes away

Former Pro Bowl wide receiver Drew Hill passed away Friday night in an Atlanta hospital.

News came out that Hill had become ill on a golf course and John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the 54-year-old died after two massive strokes.

A star for the Houston Oilers, Hill was one of their top targets in the Red Gun offense. He also played for the Los Angeles Rams and finished his career with the Falcons.

“I’m shocked,” Warren Moon told McClain. “I can’t believe it. Drew meant so much to us as a player and as a person. I counted on him so much. He was the consummate professional. It’s just so sad.

“Drew was a great receiver, one who knew the offense and was always in the right spot. I always knew exactly where Drew would be. He had a low-key demeanor. He didn’t get upset. He was always cool under pressure.”

The National Football Post sends condolences to the family and friends of Hill.
