Eagles could be awful shorthanded at wide receiver

The Philadelphia Eagles face a stiff challenge Sunday from their neighbors just down I-95 in Baltimore.

The Ravens looked more explosive in their season-opening victory Monday than we’ve seen them in maybe ever. And now the Eagles look like they could be short-handed at wide receiver, possibly in a big way.

That is because wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are both questionable for the game at Lincoln Financial Field. Jackson suffered a hamstring strain in practice on Wednesday and Maclin is coming off a hip pointer suffered in the season-opening victory at Cleveland. Obviously, the offense would take on a much different look for quarterback Michael Vick if his two top targets were not available.

Eagles coach Andy Reid was asked what his backup plan was in the event the players are not available and he declined to be specific, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The options are limited to Jason Avant, Damaris Johnson and Mardy Gilyard with Riley Cooper still sidelined with a broken collarbone.
