Eagles deal Dion Lewis to Browns
The Philadelphia Eagles made Dion Lewis available in a trade and it didn’t take long to find a taker.
Lewis, a third-year running back from Pitt, was traded by the Eagles to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for linebacker Emmanuel Acho.
The deal makes sense for both clubs. Lewis will figure into the mix for the No. 2 job in Cleveland behind Trent Richardson. Obviously, Eagles coach Chip Kelly didn’t view him as a good fit for his offense.
Acho, a sixth-round draft pick of the Browns last season from Texas, projects for the 3-4 defense Philadelphia is running. At 6-2, 238 pounds, he is a bigger player to fit into the scheme like Kelly desires. Acho missed his entire rookie season on injured reserve with a leg issue.
