Eagles move step closer to starting Michael Vick this week

The Philadelphia Eagles took a big step toward having Michael Vick on the field Sunday when they host the New York Giants as the quarterback practiced today four days after suffering a concussion Sunday night in a loss at Atlanta.

Vick was cleared by an independent neurosurgeon to return to practice. His status for the game remains unknown, but the Philadelphia Inquirer suggests Vick will be the starter “barring an unforeseen setback.”

The National Football Post’s Matt Bowen tackled the issue on Wednesday. He thinks the only move for the Eagles to make is to sit Vick this week. It's a compelling read.

The Eagles have two more days to evaluate him or go with the alternative – second-year quarterback Mike Kafka.

“He looked good, man, he looked fine," wide receiver Jeremy Maclin said of Vick. "Very, very in control of the huddle, in control of what was going on, in control of the offense. Like I said, he's in good shape."
