Eagles net just a 7th rounder for Asante Samuel
The Atlanta Falcons wound up landing Asante Samuel for the budget price of a seventh-round draft pick.
That is the selection the Falcons sent to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for the four-time Pro Bowl performer. It is the 229th overall pick in the draft.
Samuel agreed to restructure his contract to make the trade happen. He now has a $18.5 million, three-year contract. It’s proof positive that players with sizeable contracts – Samuel was scheduled to make $21.5 million over the next two seasons in Philadelphia – can be very difficult to trade for value.
