Eagles pull plug on Martin Rucker
Martin Rucker is out in Philadelphia as the Eagles released the young tight end, choosing to go with a veteran in Nate Lawrie.
The Eagles added Rucker, a fourth-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2008 from Missouri, to the practice squad last September. He couldn’t stick there and in comes Lawrie, a 28-year-old veteran who had a previous stint on the Eagles’ practice squad in 2004 and bounced around with the Cincinnati Bengals, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s also played in the UFL.
He has four career receptions and at this point would look to be a camp body who the team wants to get a look at. Rucker had generated some buzz in Philadelphia this offseason. He was hampered earlier in camp by a hamstring injury.
