Eagles rule Asante Samuel out for Sunday's game
The Philadelphia Eagles held out hope that Asante Samuel’s sprained knee would improve this week, but it didn’t in time for him to be cleared for Sunday’s game.
The Eagles announced that the Pro Bowl cornerback will not travel with the team to Chicago for a battle of 7-3 NFC teams.
It’s a big blow to the Eagles against quarterback Jay Cutler, who has been prone to throw multiple interceptions. Samuel leads the NFL with seven interceptions.
They will start Joselio Hanson in his place. In the nickel package, Hanson will slide inside and rookie Trevard Lindley will play left cornerback.
