Eagles' search for a defensive coordinator marches on
And the search for a defensive coordinator in Philadelphia marches on.
One candidate for the job disappeared after the Denver Broncos announced late Monday night that they had hired New Orleans Saints secondary coach Dennis Allen for the job. Jim Mora removed his name from the process earlier, making you wonder how serious of a candidate he indeed was for the organization.
Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that a source told him before this past weekend that the team wanted to speak with an assistant still alive in the playoffs. Maybe coach Andy Reid has a strong idea who he wants to bring in at this point. Bowen speculated Packers defensive line coach Mike Trgovac or linebackers coach Kevin Greene or Winston Moss could be on his list, along with Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler. Those coaches work in 3-4 schemes right now, and the Eagles are a 4-3 defense.
Reid is not attending the Senior Bowl in order to coordinator his coaching search from Philadelphia.
“You're asking the wrong guy," general manager Howie Roseman said when Bowen asked him about a time frame.
