Eagles shoot down Jon Gruden rumors

Super Bowl XLV will be remembered for many things.

The crummy weather all week in Dallas, the 400 displaced fans left in a lurch by unsafe seats constructed by Jerry Jones and some wild coaching rumors.

First, there was the word that Sean Payton would be leaving the New Orleans Saints to become the general manager of the Dallas Cowboys. Maybe in that role he could advise Jones against building shoddy seats in the future. But Payton isn’t going anywhere.

Neither is Andy Reid. After Internet rumors swirled that one-time Philadelphia Eagles assistant Jon Gruden would be replacing Reid as the franchise’s coach, the team shot it down.

“Early this morning we have received several inquiries regarding the rumors regarding Andy Reid and Jon Gruden," the team said in a release. "This was simply a rumor and there is no basis to it at all. It is simply not true.”

Oh yeah. Super Bowl XLV will also be remembered for a pretty darn good game between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Now to chase down the next hoax.
