Eagles sign former Army Ranger Alejandro Villanueva to play defensive end

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed U.S. Army Ranger Alejandro Villanueva as a defensive end.

The 6-foot-9, 277-pounder spent the last four years as an active member of the Army, including three tours in Afghanistan.

He participated in the NFL super regional combine at Ford Field in Detroit.

Villanueva is a West Point graduate.
