Ed Reed, Arian Foster on Texans' physically unable to perform list
Houston Texans safety Ed Reed is sidelined to start training camp due to his offseason hip surgery.
Reed was placed on the physically unable to perform list, but Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson indicated that the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year told him that he's on schedule to play in the regular-season opener.
“He’s out running around and stuff,” Johnson said. “He said he feels like he’s ahead of schedule. You never know until you get out there and get banged up a little bit. Other than that, he said he’s feeling fine and he’ll be ready to go opening day.”
Added defensive end J.J. Watt: “Ed’s a playmaker. He’s a guy who flies around and he always seems to find the ball and that’s so much fun to play with because you know he’s back there and you know he’s a wild card and you know he can make plays that you wouldn’t really expect him to make, so it’s going to be a lot of fun to have him on this defense.”
Running back Arian Foster and wide receiver DeVier Posey were placed on the PUP list.
Linebacker Darryl Sharpton was placed on the non-football injury list.
The Texans placed tight end Garrett Graham on the non-football illness list.
The Texans signed cornerback Elbert Mack and nose guard Daniel Muir.
Rookie draft picks Sam Montgomery and Brennan Williams were activated from the non-football injury list.
The Texans cut tight end Phillip Supernaw.
